“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” – Ephesians 5:19
Music has been a part of my life for many years. My parents are musical; my grandparents were musical. I had almost no possibility of NOT being musical. God blessed me when He put me in the Loew family. My parents invested much time and money into developing this ability from God. They had a vision of what such an investment could become, and through my ten years of piano lessons these wonderful people patiently encouraged me along.
I had vocal instruction for one year in college and enjoyed singing with more confidence afterwards. Several times over the years, different people would ask me if I’d ever considered making a recording. As a young mother, I didn’t want to leave my family and make the journey out of state to a studio, so I always put the idea out of my mind. Finally, in 2001, I decided to make an attempt. In the next four years, I made six recordings.
Due to the time constraints of a growing family, this aspect of my life has been on hold since 2005. Now that I have graduated three from our homeschool, I may be recording again soon. The studio that I used for all of my previous CDs is no longer in Alaska, so I will need to be looking for a different one. With the advancing of technology, that may not be as difficult as it once was.
I always enjoyed listening to my Grandma Bea’s recording. She would tell me about the ‘old fashioned’ way of recording: singing a part while playing an instrument – piano or organ etc. – then going back to the beginning and recording a second part while the tape was playing the melody and accompaniment. She had a saying, “On Earth I’m Bea Loew (be-low) when I die, I’ll be a-bove! Will you?” This is the most important thing to know – what happens to you after you breathe your last time.
My husband and I have been privileged to serve at Independent Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska since 1992. If you live in the area or are passing through, feel free to visit. See http://ibca-alaska.org more info.
